Tłumaczenie jest formą „przepracowywania” przeszłości, w której tłumacze negocjują pamięć kulturową, a nie jedynie przenoszą słowa. Podobnie jak w przypadku saamskiego duodji, działają oni jako „tkacze słów”, splatając wątki językowe, historyczne i emocjonalne, aby zachować i przekształcić tekst źródłowy. Dzięki swojej materialności, ucieleśnionemu zaangażowaniu i formie estetycznej tłumaczenie jawi się jako akt dotykowy, etyczny i interpretacyjny. Niemieckie tłumaczenie powieści Elin Anny Labby Far inte till havet (2024) autorstwa Hanny Granz jako Das Echo der Sommer (2025) stanowi przykład tego, jak wybory językowe i forma pośredniczą w przekazywaniu saamskiej pamięci kulturowej pomiędzy językami.
