Border trouble: Capitalism, preventative counter-reform, and the immigration rhetoric of the U.S. Democratic Party

Abstrakt

Artykuł analizuje rozporządzenie wykonawcze prezydenta Bidena z 2024 roku, zakazujące ubiegania się o azyl przez imigrantów nieposiadających dokumentów, a także inne podobne przykłady retoryki Partii Demokratycznej USA, traktując je jako przejawy ukrytej faszystowskiej postawy w ramach pozornie liberalnej Partii Demokratycznej. Wykorzystując koncepcję późnego faszyzmu Alberta Toscano, autor argumentuje, że retoryka graniczna amerykańskich Demokratów od dawna przejawia cechy dyskursu faszystowskiego, który wykorzystuje rzekome zagrożenie ze strony imigrantów do utrwalania warunków sprzyjających kapitalizmowi. Jak wykazano, taka postawa polityczna, zamiast stanowić bezpośrednie wyzwanie dla Donalda Trumpa i coraz bardziej ksenofobicznej Partii Republikańskiej, przyczyniła się do zbliżenia obu ugrupowań i zapoczątkowała nową erę narastającego natywizmu oraz przemocy na tle rasowym.
